teaching children that they can make a difference.

My goal at work this month was to teach children the fundamentals of art.
And how they can use their creativity to make a difference.

My site is now compiling art projects and creations to sell in a charitable silent art auction to benefit the Doernbechers Children's Hospital Foundation.

It will be held at Chatterbox Coffee on December 14th at 5:30 PM.

If you are local and happen to read this, please come out and get a new piece of artwork for your home. All the support we can get will be greatly appreciated.

MY 100th POST! ..and it's a recipe for tea cookies..

I recently made earl grey tea cookies.
Recently as in last night.
Less that 24 hours ago.
Are there any left?

Absolutely not.

Whether you love tea or not.. you should give these easy peasy cookies a try.

Earl Grey Tea Cookies
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup "sugar in the raw" / turbinado sugar
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon Earl Grey tea leaves (i just cut open three tea bags..)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon water
1/2 cup unsalted butter

Mix together all the dry ingredients.
Add vanilla, water, and butter.
Mix together until a dough is formed.
May have to use your hands to bring it together.
Form the dough into a log onto a piece of wax paper.
Wrap the paper around and roll the log smooth.
Freeze for AT LEAST 30 minutes.. but you can keep it in there for months, or so I hear.. I don't really know who can wait that long for cookies...
Preheat oven to 375°F.
When chilled, slice the log into 1/3 inch thick pieces.
Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake until the edges are just light brown, about 10 minutes.
Let cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Then, heat up some of your favorite tea and munch 'em up.

..I think I may try orange spice next time..
Do you have any suggestions?
